The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) are part of 15 agricultural research centres supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CCIAR).

ILRI works to help reduce poverty, hunger and environmental degradation by enhancing animal agriculture in developing countries. It positions its work at the dynamic interface of poverty alleviation and sustainable livestock livelihoods.

ICRAF is a global leader in agroforestry research and development, whose ultimate purpose is to improve the human welfare of its clients through agroforestry innovations that contribute to reducing poverty, increasing cash income, improving food and nutritional security, and environmental resilience.

Both institutes are headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya.

ILRI and ICRAF have fully-integrated their ICT Unit based on functional teams of professionals that is organized to provide effective IT services across the two Centres in Nairobi and around the globe. The ICT Unit has openings for the following positions:

1) ICT Customer Services Manager
(Ref: ICT/CSM/09)

The jobholder will lead the ICT Customer Service functions for ILRI and ICRAF. S/he will provide the primary interface between the customers and the ICT Department. S/he will ensure that staff of ILRI and ICRAF, hosted organisations and visitors receive the expected level of service and support from the ICT Department so that they can work efficiently and effectively.

Qualifications:


First Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Certification as a Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) or Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)

Experience: A minimum of 5 years experience in an ICT support environment

2) ICT Financial and Business Systems Specialist
Ref: ICT/BSS/09)

The jobholder will manage and develop ILRI's business systems, specifically systems dealing with finance, human resources, operations and research management. S/he will also provide guidance and training to those administering and using business systems on the campuses.

Qualifications:

First Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent) or a CPAII (or equivalent)
Training in MS SQL database preferably MSDBA
Experience: A minimum of 5 years experience in an ICT database and applications environment with at least 3 years in an accounting/finance environment.

3) ICT Customer Services Helpdesk & Support Technician
(Ref: ICT/ST/09)

These positions represent the primary customer interface for ICT customer service, helpdesk and technical support functions on the Nairobi campuses of ILRI and ICRAF. The 2 positions are central to ensuring the efficient use of ICT equipment, applications and other resources on the campuses through the resolution of problems and passing-on of knowledge and experience.

The holders will rotate between the helpdesk and support functions and also between campuses as and when required.

Qualifications:

First Degree in Computer Science or equivalent of a Higher Diploma with additional 2 years experience
Certification as a Microsoft Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) or Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) will be an advantage

Experience: A minimum of 1 year experience in an ICT support or helpdesk environment

4) ICT Administrator
(Ref: ICT/ADM/09)

The jobholder will provide administrative support to the ILRI/ICRAF ICT unit including liaising with service providers, handling purchases, payment requests, recharges and monitoring budgets.

Qualifications:

First Degree in a relevant discipline with certification in an ICT or computer related area

Experience: A minimum of 3 years experience in administration in an ICT Unit or in and ICT organisation.
